Like the Peeling of a Pomegranate

Like the Peeling of a Pomegranate, Adelina Bernard’s debut short film, is a poetic meditation on the transformative power of time—a theme at the heart of our brand philosophy. Inspired by The Color of Pomegranates by Sergei Parajanov (1969), the film draws from its symbolic visual language and unconventional narrative structure, reimagined through our own lens.

We invite the viewer into a journey of time’s power to change, guided by an original poem. The story is told through the metaphor of time’s stroke on a pomegranate - the house’s symbol. At its core, the film explores the dualities time brings: sweetness in decay, familiarity in the unknown, and perfection within the flawed. Each frame is composed like a painting; a stillness that creates space for reflection and interpretation. It is a film that should not just be watched, but felt and considered.

STILLS

BEHIND THE SCENES

Time, like the peeling of a pomegranate,
presses against stubborn skin.
Like blood, red seeps into its palms.
A touch, a pulse,
that lingers between the fingers just enough,
to change what once was.

Softly, yet with certainty,
until the fruit finally yields,
the seeds, born from what has lived,
what has ripened and surrendered,
scatter like fragments of a story,
each carrying a piece of a grander whole.

Beauty, not in perfection,
but in the silent impressions left by time’s caress,
by hands stained in the colour of soul.
A transformation,
neither lost nor broken,
but reborn in time’s keeping.

Yet, with time’s companion,
as mould’s subtle embrace,
wraps its cold, familiar arms around,
light dawns.
A presence that, when The Rotting Hour strikes,
will be known to all.

And, when time has washed her hands,
you, too, move through this.
Not as a victim,
not in defiance,
but in acceptance.
Acceptance of your friendship with time’s vigour.

Time warps what was, is and what will be.
Not perfect. Not flawless.
But complete.
Layer upon layer,
with the sweetness of decay,
even you,
are Moulded by Transformation.
