The History

Founded in 2025, the Paris-based house Adelina Bernard was born from the shared vision of Alice Adelina Lindvall and Menno Bernard Idink. They shared an unspoken feeling from the very moment they met: a quiet unrest, a lingering sense that something was missing. In 2022, they began to imagine a vision for the future of fashion.

Fashion, art and design had been a central theme in both their lives. They could not help but feel its emotional core had grown faint. They were inspired by a time when design sprang from pure passion, driven by storytelling. To them, design is a tool to understand the tangled threads of life: people and the stories they leave unspoken, the grandeur and fire of emotions and the allure of dark dreams. They began to wonder: at what point had fashion lost its true meaning?

Adelina Bernard was born out of that question, a testament to the belief that design should once again evoke emotion, tell stories, and speak to the soul.

The DNA

Adelina Bernard is a reflection of time’s transformative power and a celebration of the marks it leaves behind. The theme of change - birth, decay, and rebirth - is symbolised through the rotten fruit; a vivid reminder that beauty is often found in imperfection. It is an ongoing narrative, revisited and reimagined as we evolve. To us, design is a living entity - constantly transforming and intimately tied to the personal journeys of those who embrace it.

SUSTAINABILITY

Sustainability is part of Adelina Bernard’s foundation. From the beginning, we have chosen to work with what already exists - to transform the overlooked into something lasting. At every step, we pause, reflect, and take responsibility for our environmental impact.

Yet, we recognise that sustainability is not a fixed destination, but a process of learning, refining, and evolving. Each decision we make is part of that ongoing commitment. Through care and responsibility, we honour the integrity of our materials and the hands that shape them.

Fabrics Left Behind

At Adelina Bernard, our garments are primarily made from luxury deadstock materials - unused and often forgotten textiles sourced from luxury houses and mills. These fabrics, once intended for other stories, are transformed and given a second life.

Because these fabrics are remnants of past collections, surplus from large productions, and discontinued rolls, they are inherently limited - an opportunity that cannot be replicated. Our pieces are produced in low quantities, and once they are gone, they are gone. To own a garment from Adelina Bernard is to hold something truly rare: a reflection of both exclusivity and conscious creation.

Materials With Purpose

Adelina Bernard is built on the belief that exceptional design begins with the materials. For our main fabrics, we source only the finest natural, biodegradable materials - free from plastics, elastane, and harmful chemical treatments - ensuring they breathe, age beautifully and honor their origins. For lining, we use natural or semi-natural material, such as silk and cupro.

All fresh fabrics are certified and come from certified suppliers, including GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard), OEKO-TEX and Fair Trade.

Made in Europe

Every Adelina Bernard piece is proudly made in Europe. We work with small, specialised ateliers and skilled manufacturers who share our commitment to quality and sustainability. These partnerships are not chosen from afar, as we visit each atelier personally, ensuring that our standards for excellence and ethical practices are not only met but deeply understood.

Producing in Europe allows us to remain close to our process, guarantee fair working conditions, and reduce our environmental impact - a deliberate choice rooted in respect for people, for craft, and for the planet.
